Prison Justice Group Offers Volunteer Workshop

The Prison Justice Group, sponsored by the Vermont Conference of the United Church of Christ, is hosting a workshop for all those interested in volunteering in the Vermont criminal justice system. The workshop will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 27 State Street in Windsor on Thursday afternoon, April 30, 2009. Registration begins at 3:30 pm, followed by presentations on the many volunteer opportunities, both in facilities and in the community, at 4:00. Speakers will include the volunteer coordinator at the new Windsor Work Camp and others who already volunteer. There will be a supper at 5:30 provided by the youth group of Old South Church, UCC with a free will offering. The highlight of the workshop will be a tour of the Windsor Work Camp immediately following the supper.

From the north, St. Paul’s is reached by traveling south on Rt 5 and making a right at the first light in Windsor onto State Street. From the south, travel on Rt 5 going north and make a left at the second light onto State Street. St. Paul’s is a large brick building less than one-tenth of a mile on the left, across from the American Legion and across from the common.
